Leading up to the graduation of our 2017 Fellows, we will be introducing you to members of the 2017 class. Let's get to know Yvonne Sosa.
I'm a South Omaha girl, a daughter of immigrants. I graduated from South High School in 2001. I was the first in my family to graduate from college. I graduated from UNO in 2005 with a Bachelors Degree. I followed my dream to become a lawyer by going to Creighton's Law School. I am an Assistant Public Defender, and have worked in the Public Defenders office for 19 years. I enjoy working for indigent clientele, as I grew up in poverty. I have a 15, 9, and 2 year old daughters.
The opportunity to be taught everything about leadership that I have never had access to before. The potential support system for future personal growth with public outreach.
I have gained so much knowledge and understanding of different people and systems. My colleagues have inspired and motivated me.
I love Omaha because it's been my only home. I love Omaha because it has so much potential to be a welcoming, progressive, and beautifully diverse city.
Support Yvonne and all of NLC by attending "Why We Love Omaha: An NLC Fundraiser" on June 8. Buy tickets today at http://omaha.newleaderscouncil.org/2017_fellows_event.
