Leading up to our Progressing the Good Life event on June 8, we will be introducing the 2018 fellows. Today, we meet Shams Al-Badry.
I am an academic advisor at UNL, and also serve as a board member for the YWCA and the Academic Advising Association. This year I have had the privilege of being a part of the Lincoln Public Schools Civic Academy -- as a former Early Childhood Educator I have throughly enjoyed learning more about our phenomenal schools and ways to support the district.
New Leader's Council is an organization that truly embodies the commitment to community, professional/personal development and empowers fellows to be agents of change in their communities.
NLC has provided me with the tools and resources to help advance the work we do as a community. I am inspired by alumni and current fellows who are working in all facets of life to improve our communities.
I really enjoying traveling, I am always up for a new adventure! I'm also a Green Bay Packers fan -- #GoPackGo!
I am working on developing a mentorship program focused on Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) youth in Lincoln. MENA Mentors will pair youth with young professionals who identify with the MENA community.
Support Shams and all of NLC by attending "Progressing the Good Life" on June 8. Buy tickets today at http://omaha.newleaderscouncil.org/thegoodlife.
