Meet the 2018 Fellows: Kacie Ware

Leading up to our Progressing the Good Life event on June 8, we will be introducing the 2018 fellows. Today, we meet Kacie Ware.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a feminist, mom and wife living in Benson. I somehow balance being creative, outspoken, and a super geeky numbers person.

Why New Leaders Council (NLC)?

NLC means so much to me, even in the short amount of time I’ve been involved. I've met a diverse group of people who've struggled and made it through. The Capstone Projects enable us to bring our whole selves and passions together to create positive change in our community.

What have you gained through your experience at NLC?

So much perspective. It is a huge reminder to challenge my frame of reference and try to create a more equitable community.

What's one fun fact or something people are surprised to learn about you?

I've never shot a gun, but I have fired a cannon. I used to volunteer during Fort Atkinson’s Living History weekend.

Briefly describe your capstone project.

My project is working to destigmatize abortion through story-telling. I'm looking to host a live event in Omaha, as well as create an online community space to build value around the stories and experiences of people who've had abortions.
