Leading up to the graduation of our 2017 fellows, we will be introducing you to members of the 2017 class. Let's chat with Maureen Irish.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am the Development Director at Roncalli Catholic High School, a small college preparatory high school located in Northeast Omaha. Prior to my time at Roncalli, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Armenia. While I had worked for nonprofits previously, the two years I spent teaching English and partnering with local NGOs in Armenia was a catalyst for my career in development. As an Omaha native I am thrilled to be home and serving the city that has given me so much!
What attracted you to the New Leaders Council?
I was drawn to NLC by the atmosphere of community and support that is fostered among the Fellows during Institute. It's incredible to be a part of a group with such diverse skill sets who are working tirelessly to create positive changes in Omaha. They are a constant source of inspiration.
What have you gotten out of the fellowship?
NLC has brought 19 remarkable individuals into my life and given me a greater sense of my role to effect change.
Why do you love Omaha?
I love Omaha for its kindhearted people, great steak, and "small town in a big city" charm.
Support Maureen and all of NLC by attending "Why We Love Omaha: An NLC Fundraiser" on June 8. Buy tickets today at http://omaha.newleaderscouncil.org/2017_fellows_event.
